Musya is living proof that your perception of a game can and will change the more you play it. If you really put your mind towards understanding a game, that is absolutely an inevitability. You may not need any more proof of that, especially if you follow this blog, and I’ve probably said something like this before, but still! At first, I was as down on this game as everyone else was. I thought it was a nightmare to play and seemed impossible to get through! I was constantly taking damage and missing my target and the whole thing just felt wrong. But as I hunkered down and really tried to meet the game where it was at, I found myself endeared to it more and more. It’s extremely jank even when you know what you’re doing, make no mistake, and its fundamentally at odds design is guaranteed to scare some people off no matter what I say, but there’s something here, and like a lot of Jorudan’s other games, I think what’s here can really work for some people.
